She thought about Alex's words as she reached back and pulled her long mane of hair over to one shoulder. He'd whispered something to himself a moment earlier, but she hadn't quite caught what it was. She stared at him, puzzled, before finally saying, "You know how there's those girls who, you know, tend to have more male friends than she does female." She smiled wanly at him. "I'm one of those girls. But I can ask around the Avengers, see if anyone's interested." Her closest friend growing up had been one Brooke Wyngarde, until high school happened and Roxie grew obsessed with boys and partying and Brooke did with being the school's Queen Bee. They'd drifted apart after that, though they'd roomed together for awhile in college, until Roxie had gotten a place with Vince. Brooke was many things, but the modeling type was not one of them. She was too stiff, too self-conscious to let loose in front of the camera.
